Everything you need to prepare for an NVAA mainstage audition. All auditions are open to enrolled students — no experience required.

Rehearsal schedule
Once casting is announced, rehearsals begin according to the general schedule below. Exact call times vary by scene and are posted on the callboard and rehearsal calendar.
Monday – Friday
2:30 – 5:30 PM, general rehearsal in the auditorium.
Select Saturdays
9 AM – 1 PM, dance rehearsals for selected cast members.
First two weeks of rehearsal
The first rehearsal is Monday, August 31 from 2:30–5:30 PM in the drama room.
Week 1
- Monday, Aug 31: All call, script read-through
- Tuesday, Sept 1: All call, character work
- Wednesday, Sept 2: All call, character work and costume measurements
- Thursday, Sept 3: All call, singing with Weck
- Friday, Sept 4: Leads only, TBA; singing with Weck
Week 2
- Monday, Sept 7: No rehearsal or school
- Tuesday, Sept 8: All call, singing
- Wednesday, Sept 9: All call, blocking with Flowers x2
- Thursday, Sept 10: Singing, TBA
- Friday, Sept 11: Singing, TBA

General Audition Procedures
What to expect
The following steps are taken for each respective mainstage musical and play, subject to change at the director's discretion.
Musical Auditions

Monologue
Perform a 1–2 minute monologue from a play or musical of your choice. Optional but highly recommended for a musical audition.
- 2
Singing
Sing one of several selections provided by the music director — you choose which one, and background music is provided. Optionally, bring your own 1–2 minute solo song with an instrumental-only track on a phone with Bluetooth.

Dancing
Perform a choreographed dance selection taught by the choreographer.
- 4
Callbacks
Invited students participate in cold-reading callbacks. Not all students are invited, and a callback does not guarantee casting.
