Recognition
ASU Gammage Musical Theatre Awards
Our musicals are adjudicated alongside the best high school programs in Arizona — an honor that raises the bar for every student on our stage.
Excellence, recognized
Celebrating theatre with the Valley's best
A statewide stage
The ASU Gammage High School Musical Theatre Awards is a regional program celebrating Valley high school students and faculty for their musical theatre productions. Launched in 2014 and marking its 10th anniversary in 2024, the program has grown into one of Arizona's most respected celebrations of student theatre — with NVAA proud to be counted among the participating schools.
Judged in 14 categories
Throughout the school year, trained adjudicators attend participating productions and evaluate them across 14 performance and technical categories — from lead and supporting performances to ensemble, direction, musical direction, choreography, and technical design. Every show is measured against a shared, professional-caliber rubric of excellence.
Why we participate
Being adjudicated pushes our students to hold their work to a professional standard. It gives our performers, musicians, and technicians outside feedback from working theatre artists, and it connects our program to a community of schools all striving for the same level of craft.
